Life - Get Well, Sir

The 'media' focus shifts temporarily to report the really dean news that longtime buddy "The Bong" (below) was pranged in his car by a 120mph nutter last week, and broke his leg 'n' pelvis. Positive things to focus on:
  • It could have been alot worse, at that speed.
  • The dick who rammed him was fleeing from the law, got caught, and is going to prison, where he'll most likely be somebody's plaything.

  • There'll be some compensation dollars in the pipeline.
In the meantime, though, please send your prayers and positive brain messages towards Brother Bong. He deserves them, being awesome.

The Internet - VERBOTEN!

First tube ticket inspectors with guns, and now this...

Games - Asking for trouble?

I think that the developers of Roma-Victor (an upcoming massively multiplayer online game) have to tread carefully with this feature.

TV - Heat, Vision and Jack

Yay! You can check out the Heat, Vision and Jack pilot right here on the Mew, courtesy of YouTube (for the uninitiated, it's a great piece of media created by and featuring Frat Pack notables Stiller, Jack Black and Owen Wilson).

(For those interested in downloading it, try this website and follow the simple instructions.)

'Religion' - They said he was some sort of scientist

Is it the combination of wealth and insecurity that makes celebs prime targets for L Ron, or are they proportionally represented and we just don't see the rest? Hmm...

News in brief

Odds and sods today.

World Affairs - I'venoscar.com

Another installment in our Don't Trust Those Russians series.

Society - Media Incentives

Inside every hardened criminal beats the heart of a ten-year-old boy (and vice-versa).

Music - No Thom for Tony

It seems that after agonising over whether to meet Tony Blair or not, Thom has finally decided against it (a wise move in my opinion), kicking off a shitstorm in the process (despite rarely rising above "Kid A was crap" or "Stop your whining Thom", the largely negative comments still are worth a browse).

Oh, and a 'head live tour coming soon, so get ready, wherever it is you live, whoever you are (best of luck getting tickets).

Interviews - 'Man, that's one massive head'

This is the least camp photo of Morrissey I could find on Google Image Search (enjoy the Observer interview).

Technology - The Puzzle Prison

This sounds fun (although I cannot help but think that they've missed out on some interesting opportunities).

Comedy - Just What I Hoped Wouldn't Happen

SNL has one hit sketch in 5 years. How do they capitalise on their new audience?

Bring on the rip-offs... same joke, only now it's much older.

If you can bear to watch long enough, Samborg shows up in a Viking suit.

I give it 6 months before the gimmick becomes a commercial.

Remember her? ... well then check out this neat article over at the Observer.

TV - The digital tide is coming in

It looks like as of today, both The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are purchasable on iTunes. What's the deeeeeal, I hear you asking? The deal is 16 episodes (4 weeks) for $10; for a working man with a ViPod, this could almost be a viable alternative to BitTorrent faffage, no?

Interviews - Favs

J. Stewart - IAmOscar.com

At least one positive review.

Society - A new teenage craze

I'm going to hell ---->

In Pictures - Oscar Jon

These photos taken been taken unedited from the Yahoo! entertainment website - I haven't watched the ceremony yet, so my question is: was there really so much finger pointing?
Almost a WWE intro.

Distinctly Jewy..

Sharing a joke

It's all over, and boy, does he look tired

Society - The first rule is...

So we've had Bollywood Fight Club, now let's bring out Silicon Valley Fight Club (video included).

Entertainment - Movie Recut

Big whoop, so I'm blatantly reposting something from the Organgrinder forums, wanna fight about it?

TV - The Simpsons

A Sky promo for season 17 (I enjoyed the attention to detail)

Illusion, Michael.

A trick is something a whore does for money. ... Or candy...

Colbert - Wørd getting around

I was watching a recent Colbert interview clip featuring (the apparently prominent) political blogger Arianna Huffington, in which Wikipedia's article on Truthiness was mentioned... I checked it out and was rather surprised by just how big a splash Colbert has made since his show started - accident or a case of the pupil walking out of the shadow of the master?

Education - It's just a damn popularity contest with you kids!

Teachers are running for the hills because of a website called RateMyTeachers, where kids can anonymously... do I really need to spell it out?

Science - Stressing the brain

I came across this intriguing article about new research which discusses, amongst other things, how poverty and stress (and Prozac) affect the ol' brain - it is fairly long and meandering but structurally satisfying, so bear with it.

Music - The Celly

Another musical treat.
