Politics - Huck n' Chuck
Huckabee's ascent hasn't gone unnoticed over here. I put it largely down to his masterful playing of the media game. I've heard people saying this video alone could win him the Presidency:
His views ARE still loony conservative though. DO NOT BE FOOLED, ironic humour fans!

Music - DIY Chartage
Really interesting article by a dude who wrote a song and tried to get it in the charts for as little money as possible, using all the powers of the internets.
Did you know that you can get your songs listed and downloadable on iTunes for only 25 British sheets? I think Children's seminal "Lady" album deserves to be on that database... particularly 'Jake Grab Hold'...

1. "Except for the occasional heart attack, I never felt better."
2. "You sound like a damn politician with all these excuses."

You haters got it all wrong. I've been listening to 'Victory For The Comic Muse" with fresh ears, and it's really good. If it'd been made in 1999 you'd've all been loving 'To Die A Virgin' [competition winning video below] and 'Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World'.

Computery Stuff - You Stanford boffins...
are alright.
My company staged a mini-technical conference last week, where lots of people gave interesting talks, including a Stanford robotics professor from the team that won the DARPA Grand Challenge in 2o04. In case you haven't heard of it, it was a competition to build a completely autonomous car robot that would drive through 160 miles of desert, without crashing or anything (much harder than it sounds).
The guy's talk was awesome (they're now building a robot car that will drive around a city, trying not to crash/kill/maim anyone), and he mentioned an hour-long PBS documentary on the race which I watched and enjoyed, so if your name is Ricky you would probably be likewise interested (and even if it isn't, I still recommend it).

Movies - Grindhouse
Their mistake was underestimating the stupidity of the audience:
Grindhouse is to be broken into two films following its disastrous showing at the US box office last weekend. The Robert Rodriguez-Quentin Tarantino collaboration will now be released overseas as two separate features. There are also plans to re-release the production as two films in the US.
[..]
Moreover, there have been reports that many film-goers have been confused by the movie's structure - mistakenly assuming that there was only one film on offer and leaving the cinema en-masse after the Rodriguez section.

Sound and Vision - Green Screen
Heavy rotation of the Decemberists' single "O Valencia" on LA's Indie 103.1FM reminded me of the Colbert-angering Green-Screen Video Challenge they set up.
I trawled through a few entries to the contest, and it was really interesting to see the difference between the undoubtedly very very good unsuccesful entries... [another example here:
...and the eventual takes-it-a-step-further winner.
A reminder that in the creative industry you can be very good technically, but unless you got that zinger of a creative idea, you'll be forgotten about.

Hello there. I ripped these off the John F. Kennedy XFM show (25th Feb 07 edition) through the internet.

Those of us who have disposable time (or those who don't, but are poorly disciplined and wish to procrastinate) will benefit from the resurrection of the Sam & Max franchise by Lucasarts. In full 3D, no less.
Still as sassy as ever, and now in bite size episodes. "The first gaming sitcom" say the press, and who am I to argue?
I shan't put a link, but I trust that discerning Mew-tards will know where to download a copy. Ep. 1 is called 'Culture Shock'.
